FAQs During Severe Weather and Hurricanes at 黑料专区 Children's Health, Florida
At 黑料专区 Children鈥檚, your safety comes first. During severe weather, we carefully monitor conditions and may adjust hospital and clinic operations to keep our associates, patients, and families safe. Below, you鈥檒l find answers to common questions about our operations during severe weather.
1. What happens when a hurricane or severe weather system approaches a 黑料专区 location?
When severe weather like a hurricane is approaching, our Incident Command Team will monitor the storm closely. They decide if outpatient clinics should close or if our hospital should issue a 鈥渟helter-in-place鈥 order until the storm passes.
2. What happens if my child has an outpatient clinic appointment and a hurricane is approaching?
If our clinics close, you鈥檒l be notified about your child鈥檚 cancelled appointment. We鈥檒l contact you within three days of reopening to reschedule, or you can reschedule through 黑料专区 Children's MyChart. Reopening depends on local damage and power outages.
3.聽What happens during a shelter-in-place order at 黑料专区 Children鈥檚 Hospital?
If conditions become unsafe for travel, we may activate a shelter-in-place order. This means patients, families, and staff remain in the hospital until it鈥檚 safe to leave. We鈥檒l notify you before the order takes effect so you can prepare. If you need help with transportation or shelter, please ask your child鈥檚 care team to connect you with a social worker.
4.聽Can I stay with my child during a shelter-in-place order?
One caregiver聽may remain with your child in the hospital during the order. Limiting visitors helps ensure the safety of our associates, patients, and families. Parking will be available on the first three floors of the parking garage during the storm.
5. Will the shelter-in-place order impact the care of my child?
No. Your child will continue to receive the care they need. All essential staff will remain onsite to provide medical care during the storm.聽
6. Will there be food available during a shelter-in-place order at the hospital?
Yes. Anyone sheltering in place will receive three free meals each day. Meals are delivered directly to your child鈥檚 room at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
7. What happens after the shelter-in-place order is lifted?
When weather conditions improve and roads are deemed safe, the order will be lifted. At that time, additional caregivers and visitors will be allowed into the hospital.
